Square Wheels Posted January 4, 2015 Share #2 Posted January 4, 2015 I am, not sure. I hear it's a good tool if you are looking for a new job, which I am currently not doing. I guess I use it to keep professional connections in case I am in need of a job.
bikeman564™ Posted January 4, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted January 4, 2015 There's several people in my company on it. I'm not looking, but if I was would they know it by seeing my profile?
Square Wheels Posted January 4, 2015 Share #4 Posted January 4, 2015 Possibly. I'm not sure what they offer for privacy settings. I always assume everyone can see everything, that way I don't worry about what I post. I rarely use Facebook and never from work.
kingtermite Posted January 4, 2015 Share #5 Posted January 4, 2015 I'm on it. Most professional type people are. I don't think there's much benefit "day to day", but it's a good place to make contacts so that you have resources to tap if you happen to lose your job. This ^ As a business we have some of our sales and marketing people that are very active on Linkedin. It has been one effective tool to drive traffic to our website. Airehead Posted January 4, 2015 Share #7 Posted January 4, 2015 I am on it. Once a month or so I check in to see what the chatter is in some of the professional groups to which I belong. Some folks seem to spnd all day posting stuff that they hope will make them influential in our field. It usually doesn't.

team scooter Posted January 4, 2015 Share #10 Posted January 4, 2015 Many people I work with, (or have worked with in the past), have asked me to join but I never saw a need. But I wasn't looking for a job. But now that I have started looking.........
2Far ★ Posted January 4, 2015 Share #11 Posted January 4, 2015 I'm in. I'm not on FB, I've connected to a lot of former co-workers, schoolmates, etc. The groups are OK, some things come up which are highly relevant to what I do, others as noted above. There are always a coupla knuckleheads which treat it like FB, but they are easy enough to ignore.
Scrapr ★ Posted January 4, 2015 Share #12 Posted January 4, 2015 I'm on. I like it. See what people are up to. Few interesting news stories. Groups are decent. kinda like a message board. But biz related. warning: LI will try to spam your contact list. Be very very careful about permissions and checking boxes. Otherwise....BAM, your whole contact list is asked to join you on LinkedIn. Randomguy Posted January 5, 2015 Share #16 Posted January 5, 2015 Does it h ave any benefits? I'm not, that's why I'm asking. Not in the "friends with benefits" kind of way. Just professional (not the kind you pay, though, get your mind out of the gutter, guttermind).
F_in Ray Of Sunshine Posted January 5, 2015 Share #17 Posted January 5, 2015 I'm on it. Gotten a bunch of calls from recruiters but the market for "Professional Assholes" seems to be flooded, so here I sit.
