Gump Posted January 8, 2015 Share #1 Posted January 8, 2015 Every January we do some type of fast for the month. Usually it is food related. This year we decided to fast from TV and internet at home. Although we don't really watch a lot of TV, going without any really shows how much it is part of our everyday lives. On the bright side, I am getting a lot of reading done. F_in Ray Of Sunshine Posted January 8, 2015 Share #4 Posted January 8, 2015 What is this "TV" you speak of? Oh yeah, it's the thing that the PS3 is hooked to. Didn't bother having cable hooked up when we bought the house 15 years ago. Don't miss it at all. Apart from concert videos and some MST3K via Amazon the only thing the TV gets used for is me passing myself off trying to kill stuff in Borderlands 2. Doing w/o home internet might me a challenge, but it's doable.

Indy Posted January 8, 2015 Share #6 Posted January 8, 2015 I think some people should fast from their phones. I mainly use mine to read, so you think I should sit in front of the TV and veg out instead?
F_in Ray Of Sunshine Posted January 8, 2015 Share #7 Posted January 8, 2015 I mainly use mine to read Your eyes must be a helluva' lot better than mine. Half the time I need my glasses on the friggin' tablet...
Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted January 9, 2015 Share #8 Posted January 9, 2015 On the bright side, I am getting a lot of reading done. Since you may have the time, I would recommend:
Longjohn ★ Posted January 9, 2015 Share #9 Posted January 9, 2015 My wife has fasted tv sometimes. One time I didn't even notice although it did seem nice and quiet around the house. The only time I ever turned the tv on was when we had a dog I would turn it on for him when I left for work. He liked Animal Planet.
petitepedal ★ Posted January 9, 2015 Share #10 Posted January 9, 2015 I have to say...I use my TV just for noise a lot of the time...I might look up for a minute or two...but to actually sit and just watch tv...not often....
Mr. Silly Posted January 9, 2015 Share #11 Posted January 9, 2015 One of the main reasons I started guitar lessons is I wanted a diversion more productive than watching TV. I was sitting there watching something I was marginally enjoying thinking, 'there's got to be something better to do'. I rarely watch when I am bored in the evening now, instead I only watch thing I truly enjoy.
