Pokey Posted January 26, 2015 Share #7 Posted January 26, 2015 I cleaned a whole mess of filthy bikes this weekend. Oh man, DH....thats rich. No, Squeeze does not wash either of my bikes for me. Hell, I do my own laundry, too.
Dirtyhip Posted January 26, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted January 26, 2015 We aren't a normal family. There was a truing stand on our kitchen table a few nights back. HAHA My man was lacing a new hub on the fat bike wheel. The garage is quite cold right now, so he was working at the kitchen table. When we get a new bike, it lives in the kitchen and house, until it gets rode. My pump track bike paint really matches my kitchen.

Longjohn ★ Posted January 26, 2015 Share #14 Posted January 26, 2015 All that filthy makes em look and run like shit. Ok you can wash mine next time if you want. They won't stay clean. I bought a mud colored touring bike, it pretty much looks the same clean or dirty.
Dirtyhip Posted January 26, 2015 Author Share #15 Posted January 26, 2015 They won't stay clean. Agreed. I washed my commuter bike on Saturday morning. Then, I went out on a cross ride. It got filthy. So, I washed it again today. Rinse...and repeat. A filthy bike just seems terribly wrong to me. It makes me feel happier to ride a bike that looks like new. This is why it is so nice to go out when it is frozen. There is no mud. Same thing with the house. It is nice to be in a clean house, even though it will just get dirty again. az_cyclist Posted January 26, 2015 Share #16 Posted January 26, 2015 I clean my bike (road) about once a month, mainly for the chain and cassette. I use the Park cleaning tool for the chain, with Simple Green, then ProLInk to lube. I will put a bit more ProLink on after 2 weeks. I use Dawn on all the carbon surfaces.
Randomguy Posted January 26, 2015 Share #17 Posted January 26, 2015 I wouldn't trust most people to wash my bike. Most people would completely screw something up, and there would be greaseless bearings, missing seatbags, torn tape or somesuch.

I even disconnected the hose and blew it out to prevent freezing water for the next cleaning. I put everything away and rolled up the hose. Square Wheels Posted January 26, 2015 Share #21 Posted January 26, 2015 My wife has never washed her own bike, I think I am the spouse in this story. I don't mind though, she's a pretty pissa wife.
Road Runner Posted January 26, 2015 Share #22 Posted January 26, 2015 I have never "washed" my bikes. A wipe down with a WD-40 soaked rag is as close as my bikes ever get to being "washed". Of course, the streets where I live are pretty clean and I never ride in the rain.
Mr. Silly Posted January 26, 2015 Share #23 Posted January 26, 2015 Mrs. Silly puts on a tight with tank top and gets all soapy when she washes my bike.
