Popular Post jsharr ★ Posted January 26, 2015 Popular Post Share #1 Posted January 26, 2015 This week end Ryan won third place! He built the car himself, other than the initial cut out of the body on the scroll saw. That part scared him a bit. He took third place in his patrol and tenth place overall in the Pack. I thought he might get the trophy for Cub Scout Spirit with the Blue and Gold paint, the 1910 number and the name Fluer-d-Lis Flyer, but I am not sure the judge was a Scouter or knew the meaning of the name and number. Proud of my boy. And he spent most of the day helping run the race or volunteering at the administration table and helping out with Scouting for Food, a big food drive / collection that the Scouts do every year. After that, he spent 4 hours with me and some other scouts and parents and a local pastor working on earning his God and Family award. He really is a good kid.

Randomguy Posted January 26, 2015 Share #7 Posted January 26, 2015 Nope, and his tires were not under inflated either. Did he cant the axles?
jsharr ★ Posted January 26, 2015 Author Share #8 Posted January 26, 2015 Did he cant the axles? No. He polished the heck out of them and used a ton of graphite in the wheel hubs, and he filed the axle slots a bit to make the axles easier to insert, but he did not bend the axles or cant the axles. The car seemed to track pretty straight. Scale speed for his car was 206.1 vs 209.7 for the Pack champion. The numbers below are the top 10 cars cumulative time for top 3 runs down the track and avg. scale speed. 9.5120 209.7 9.5860 208.0 9.5960 207.8 9.6020 207.7 9.6050 207.6 9.6530 206.6 9.6580 206.5 9.6690 206.3 9.6720 206.2 9.6750 206.

He left the car and trophy here with me. And I'm a sentimental person; can't part with it.

Former member Posted January 27, 2015 Share #21 Posted January 27, 2015 When I was in the service, we used to call your eyewear "BCGs". Birth Control Glasses. It's funny how styles have changed back to those being stylish frames.
LoneWolf Posted January 27, 2015 Share #22 Posted January 27, 2015 Awesome! I have two third place and one first from derbys as a kid at my folks house. Those were good times. My best car, we bondo-ed sheet lead to the bottom center. Boy, do I remember the graphite, too. Do you still have to sand the seams off the wheels?
