Randomguy Posted February 11, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 11, 2015 I had one in Chicago, and I liked it, but you just don't see them anymore. What happened?

Road Runner Posted February 11, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 11, 2015 I still have one in my closet. I tried to give it away, but no one wants it. It was pretty expensive when new, but so out of style now that even the homeless don't want them.
Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted February 11, 2015 Share #5 Posted February 11, 2015 Lazy-ass Joe wears one as does his son Jedi-knight Robert. I don't feel the need to dress like Arthur Fonzarelli yet. Maybe when I retire again.
Square Wheels Posted February 11, 2015 Share #6 Posted February 11, 2015 I have a suede one. Haven't worn it in decades. I'm hanging on to it until it comes back in style.
Road Runner Posted February 11, 2015 Share #7 Posted February 11, 2015 I have a suede one. Haven't worn it in decades. I'm hanging on to it until it comes back in style. I guess that was my thought. Although I might not live long enough for it to return to style. Of course, there is always the old guy option, where you reach the age that you just wear whatever you want and you don't GAS what anyone thinks anymore.

Road Runner Posted February 11, 2015 Share #10 Posted February 11, 2015 I'm also a little skeptical that it ever was in style. It was, just don't wear it in the rain. Jerry had a very expensive suede jacket that he wore to meet Elaine's Dad, but It rained and got ruined, so he gave it to Kramer.

Road Runner Posted February 11, 2015 Share #12 Posted February 11, 2015 And this is funny? No, I was relating a story to reinforce the notion that you should not wear suede in the rain. I even included one of those frowny emoticons at the end.

Square Wheels Posted February 11, 2015 Share #16 Posted February 11, 2015 It was funny because he had to wear it inside out and the liner had atrociously loud vertical stripes. Still not funny. Nothing Seinfeld related was ever funny. I am infinitely funnier than Seinfeld.

Hmm - sadly, indelible proof that you are humour-impaired. Unless you are just being sarcastical. Seinfeld is largely funny because the whole show is a dramatisation of Murphy's Law. Ralphie ★ Posted February 11, 2015 Share #22 Posted February 11, 2015 Cheers, in it's day, was entertaining. Good point. It was a long time ago, so my cultural references are severely dated. Hell, I was even a little surprised to see this updated version of the Hulk.

"America's Attic", as the museum is known as, is too small for all the crap that they own
LoneWolf Posted February 12, 2015 Share #26 Posted February 12, 2015 I wear a leather bomber any time I'm not at work --it was deemed "not professional attire" when going onsite at work. No Harley patches, big zippers, etc., jut brown --and with a China-Burma-India patch from the AVG on the back. Don't really care what others think "in style" is...I still like it. UglyBob Posted February 12, 2015 Share #27 Posted February 12, 2015 I still have the leather jacket I wore when I rode motocross in the early 70s. I don't kn8w why I've kept it. It's not like I will ever be able fit into it again (unless I lose 100lbs), but it still has sentimental value... and it cost me about 6 months of mowing yards to buy it back in 1972. Longjohn ★ Posted February 12, 2015 Share #28 Posted February 12, 2015 I had a Dennis Hopper leather jacket (Easy Rider). I don't remember getting rid of it but I haven't seen it in years so I must have. I still have a leather racing jacket from when I was into motorcycles, I don't ever wear it. I have a leather jacket that I do wear sometimes. It's warm and durable, still in good shape. UglyBob, I don't remember anyone wearing leather jackets to race motocross in the seventies. Did they really do that? I always wore a jersey, sometimes with a kidney belt. My leather jacket was for racing my road bike. I did have leather pants for motocross. They might still be in a closet downstairs, not sure.

In SoCal we had a lot of heavy brush on most of the trails. We wore leather pants or chaps and heavy jackets. We also wore brush-buster gloves, the ones with the hard ribs on the backs of the fingers . The jerseys didn't become popular in our area until the late 70s. By then I was in Arizona.
