Punxatawney Phil didn't see his shadow, so an early Spring is predicted.

But the Feb 2, 2024 picture below shows sunlight hitting Phil and the crowd, so how did he not see his shadow?

My locale has rain and clouds until early afternoon when it turns sunny.  I guess it's the morning weather that counts, so my area should have an early Spring, no matter what happens with Phil up in Pennsylvania.

Actually, we've had a late Fall for most of our Winter.  The first 16 days of Feb. are forecast to have unusual highs of 45° to 60°.  That probably means Mother Nature will wack us with cold weather the last half of February through March.

I am going to say the light is most likely from lights on cameras from the attendees.
