I took a cue from my wrens this morning

8 degrees this morning, 12 by the time I got outside. I noticed the wrens seemed happy, singing, darting from tree to tree in the sun.

Gas heat has been set on 68. She was running most of the night.

I put birdseed in all my feeders and watched the happiness ensue.

Came back inside and the furnace was still running. So, I cut it down to 58.

I don't know why exactly but seeing the wrens enjoying the cold motivated me to try 58 degrees.

It's odd, but the 58 seems warmer than 68. The furnace still comes on a bunch but she shuts down in less than a minute.

I don't understand the correlation but I am happy. Plus, I have 3 new pair of underwear.

And here I thought this thread was going to be about singing and darting from tree to tree.    < walks away disappointed >

I agree.

We are being penalized for our greatness to keep us humble.

no, don't despair! God is favoring us with  winter so we can ski and ice skate because we are so awesome!

...at least that's what's going on here in Pennsylvania. I assumed you were getting the same good graces down there in God's Country

But I didn't feed them yesterday and they were up and enjoying themselves before I went outside to fill their feeders.

They had no guarantee this morning yet they were happy.

I think a couple of the young wren boys were chasing Camile.

Camile is a bit of a wren floosy.
