AirwickWithCheese Posted February 20, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 20, 2015 8 degrees this morning, 12 by the time I got outside. I noticed the wrens seemed happy, singing, darting from tree to tree in the sun. Gas heat has been set on 68. She was running most of the night. I put birdseed in all my feeders and watched the happiness ensue. Came back inside and the furnace was still running. So, I cut it down to 58. I don't know why exactly but seeing the wrens enjoying the cold motivated me to try 58 degrees. It's odd, but the 58 seems warmer than 68. The furnace still comes on a bunch but she shuts down in less than a minute. I don't understand the correlation but I am happy. Plus, I have 3 new pair of underwear. Dirtyhip Posted February 20, 2015 Share #2 Posted February 20, 2015 I can't believe it is colder in Greenville than it is here. That seems so so wrong.
AirwickWithCheese Posted February 20, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted February 20, 2015 I agree. We are being penalized for our greatness to keep us humble.

God is favoring us with winter so we can ski and ice skate because we are so awesome! ...at least that's what's going on here in Pennsylvania. I assumed you were getting the same good graces down there in God's Country
AirwickWithCheese Posted February 20, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted February 20, 2015 So we've had days in the high 20s, 30's that seemed colder. Yesterday was the same 8 degrees and seemed colder. I was hoping 1 of you nitwits would share the moral of the story.

Longjohn ★ Posted February 20, 2015 Share #10 Posted February 20, 2015 The wrens are happy unless you forget to fill the feeder. They know how to go to the window and give you the stinkeye when you leave it empty. This thread reminds me I need to stop at the feedmill and buy another fifty pounds of seed.
AirwickWithCheese Posted February 20, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted February 20, 2015 But I didn't feed them yesterday and they were up and enjoying themselves before I went outside to fill their feeders. They had no guarantee this morning yet they were happy. I think a couple of the young wren boys were chasing Camile. Camile is a bit of a wren floosy. Parr8hed Posted February 20, 2015 Share #12 Posted February 20, 2015 I can't believe it is colder in Greenville than it is here. That seems so so wrong. My Greenville is -8. (That's the real Greenville BTW)

Kirby Posted February 20, 2015 Share #14 Posted February 20, 2015 I didn't see any of my usual bird friends on this chilly morning. I wonder if they're vacationing in Greenville?
Longjohn ★ Posted February 20, 2015 Share #15 Posted February 20, 2015 My birds appear to be happy even though I have a hawk that likes to feed on the birds that frequent the feeder and a garage full of ferral cats that like to hang out under the feeder. I'm not sure if they catch any but they like to watch them.
