Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted February 21, 2015 Share #1 Posted February 21, 2015 Just arrived today: and six pages in the author wastes no time: and from that he goes on to explain in most cases the best approach is to introduce the water to the wheel 'without shock and have it leave without velocity'. Which to me seems to explain why nearly all mills powered by water wheels were located at or near the top of a waterfall instead of at the bottom (where one would ordinarily locate a water turbine).
