jdc2000 Posted February 24, 2015 Share #3 Posted February 24, 2015 I saw part of the 30 for 30 show as well. The effect on the Soviet hockey program was interesting.
Guest Posted February 24, 2015 Share #4 Posted February 24, 2015 I didn't but I was there when we beat both the USSR and Finland for the gold. I grew up about 40 minutes north of Lake Placid. During the games I got a job working maintenance at the Olympic Village. I worked in the main entrance building so I got to meet a lot of athletes. The State Police Captain who was in charge there gave me tickets to about 15 events.

Scott in MN Posted February 24, 2015 Share #6 Posted February 24, 2015 Darn right. I was a freshman at the U of Minnesota where a good hunk of the team played on the Olympic team. Thing is the game against the USSR was not televised live. At least not for us. We were huddled around a radio listening to it.
Kirby Posted February 24, 2015 Share #7 Posted February 24, 2015 A couple years ago they replayed the game on ESPN. I didn't realize it was on until just the last few minutes. I did watch the 30 for 30 and was delighted to see Tatiana Tarasova interviewed. She's a legend in her own right.
