AirwickWithCheese Posted March 5, 2015 Author Share #7 Posted March 5, 2015 I was unaware that he lied, can you describe the nature of these lies?I would have to move in with you for 17 months to provide you with a comprehensive list. When should I arrive?
Destination Posted March 5, 2015 Share #8 Posted March 5, 2015 (edited) Cheese, until you can prove otherwise, I cannot accept your statement about his lies. What I have always respected about him was his approach to news reporting. Aside from his commentary on the Vietnam War on Feb. 27, 1968, he did not put his own views into his reporting. His Vietnam statement was made after much investigation and he could support his conclusion. And this was something which happened only once in his entire career. His example still has much to teach those of us who work in journalism. AirwickWithCheese Posted March 5, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted March 5, 2015 Destination, does this mean I get to move in with you after my stay with RG? Walter had many friends. I have besmirched a titan.
maddmaxx ★ Posted March 5, 2015 Share #12 Posted March 5, 2015 Airwick, it is your place in this world to distrust the most trusted man in America.
AirwickWithCheese Posted March 5, 2015 Author Share #13 Posted March 5, 2015 Yes, but I am on the wrong side of the table from Destination thus losing the discussion is inevitable. I feel I owe punitive damages now and I will be sending a check to the Cronkite estate. I will need you to trust me on the above.

AirwickWithCheese Posted March 5, 2015 Author Share #15 Posted March 5, 2015 Airwick, it is your place in this world to distrust the most trusted man in America. In my defense I once had a severe accident while bicycling on my Raleigh sprite as a lad. I feel that I should be forgiven again for possible impropriety. Destination Posted March 5, 2015 Share #16 Posted March 5, 2015 I feel I owe punitive damages now and I will be sending a check to the Cronkite estate. You're entitled to your own opinions, Mr. Cheese, and I will always respect those opinions. As for sending a cheque to the Cronkite estate, I think Walter would be happy to know we are discussing his role in the news media. This discussion is worth more than any monetary compensation."And that's the way it is."

Kirby Posted March 6, 2015 Share #18 Posted March 6, 2015 I saw him once on a street in Manhattan, and he didn't say hello. I don't think he was very friendly. I didn't say hi to him either because I need to concentrate when riding a trike on the streets of Manhattan.
