shotgun Posted June 25, 2015 Share #1 Posted June 25, 2015 I just upgraded my monitor from 2007 19" Dell Ultrasharp to a new 24" Dell Ultrasharp LED monitor. I'm currently running them in a dual configuration, but the two look so different that I don't think I can deal with it. The old one always looked ok to me until I upgraded from a 19" to a 24" at work. That got me thinking I needed a new one at home. There's a huge difference in the brightness and contrast and I don't like it. I've got a spare 32" Sony Bravia TV. Maybe I should ditch the 19" and mount the 32" on the wall above the 24".Comments? jdc2000 Posted June 25, 2015 Share #2 Posted June 25, 2015 You really need dual 4K monitors.
kingtermite Posted June 25, 2015 Share #3 Posted June 25, 2015 I've had dual 24" for a couple of years. Love it. Match the 24". They're dirt cheap nowadays. I'd love to get 4k.
maddmaxx ★ Posted June 25, 2015 Share #4 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) For work I liked identical dual monitors. It made it very easy to run a spreadsheet on one for a bill of materials and either a circuit board design package or vendor ordering page on the other without having to switch back and forth. I'd vote for two of the same. Edited June 25, 2015 by maddmaxx
TrentonMakes Posted June 25, 2015 Share #5 Posted June 25, 2015 I have dual monitors at work and it's great.Having two different monitors would bother me, maybe more than it should.
2Far ★ Posted June 25, 2015 Share #6 Posted June 25, 2015 I have my laptop on one side & a 23" on the other. Try to match the brightness, it may help.
Square Wheels Posted June 25, 2015 Share #7 Posted June 25, 2015 I have 2 19" both at home and work. I love it. I think it's very different than having a split screen, each monitor is unique.I also use UltraMon to manage the taskbar. Great little app for only a few bucks. Chris... Posted June 25, 2015 Share #8 Posted June 25, 2015 I have dual monitors at work but only a 27" at home. Going back and forth is a pain.
Parr8hed Posted June 25, 2015 Share #9 Posted June 25, 2015 It would bother me to have two different sizes. I am not sure why, it just would.

shotgun Posted June 25, 2015 Author Share #11 Posted June 25, 2015 It would bother me to have two different sizes. I am not sure why, it just would. They are the same height. The new one is just a lot wider. ...and did I mention brighter?

maddmaxx ★ Posted June 25, 2015 Share #13 Posted June 25, 2015 It would bother me to have two different sizes. I am not sure why, it just would. It bothered me that minor shades of color differences existed, let alone brightness or size. Probably just an obsession, but I wasn't concentrating on the monitors but rather what was on them while sliding things back and forth. Given a choice I would use the same size, brand and model number.
jsharr ★ Posted June 25, 2015 Share #14 Posted June 25, 2015 Dual matched monitors rock, unless you log into that machine remotely from a single monitor machine, then you have to remember that you have two monitors and toggle back and forth. Easy once you remember.....
2Far ★ Posted June 25, 2015 Share #15 Posted June 25, 2015 It would bother me to have two different sizes. I am not sure why, it just would.I have the tops lined up, it helps. Now that I think about it, I've never had two similarly sized monitors. It's always been laptop & other. bikeman564™ Posted June 25, 2015 Share #16 Posted June 25, 2015 (edited) At work I have dual matching monitors, and also dual video cards (I do CAD). I love having dual monitors. The main reason is it's nice to have reference material up on one, or multiple programs. I can run four monitors (2/card), sometimes that would be nice. At home I have a single. shotgun Posted June 25, 2015 Author Share #17 Posted June 25, 2015 I have removed the old, dull monitor from the equation. There's still plenty of real estate for me to use on just the one.
Dottleshead ★ Posted June 25, 2015 Share #18 Posted June 25, 2015 Count me in as a dual monitor guy.
