I have it's baby cousin the L810. Only 26 zoom.  Nice camera with one minor quirk.  The zoom control is very fast leaving one often over zoomed or under zoomed.  In other words it's difficult to be very precise with the zoom.

People have already used the video function to show you can get detail shots of the Statue of Liberty --from the World Trade Center.

Or get reasonable closeups of the moon, and in video mode, actually capture the rotation of the Earth.

For $599, this thing is amazing.  The one thing it should have and doesn't is a hot shoe for an accessory flash. :mellow:

Dang! I paid $600 for my first Nikon N2000 35mm set up back in 86!!
