I haven't made this before but there's a lot of bourbon in this. I'm going to try it this weekend and cut the volume in half so there will be more bourbon in my glass. Happy Fourth weekend peepsMiles James’ Mustard Bourbon Sauce and Spice RubSauce 4 to 6 servings 1 tablespoon vegetable oil2 bunches green onions, chopped2 cups white onions, chopped8 large garlic cloves, chopped2 cups (packed) golden brown sugar1 cup ketchup1 cup tomato paste1 cup whole grain Dijon mustard1 cup water½ cup Worcestershire sauce½ cup apple cider vinegar½ cup apple juice1 large dried ancho chili, stemmed, seeded, and cut into small pieces1 tablespoon ground cumin1½ cups bourbonHeat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté green onions, white onions, and garlic until tender. Mix in all remaining ingredients, adding bourbon last. Simmer sauce until thick and reduced to 7 cups, stirring occasionally, about one hour.Spice Rub2 tablespoons ground cumin1 tablespoon chili powder1 tablespoon dry mustard1 tablespoon coarse salt1½ teaspoons cayenne pepper1½ teaspoons ground cardamom1½ teaspoons ground cinnamonMix all ingredients in a bowl.
