Rattlecan ★ Posted July 17, 2015 Share #4 Posted July 17, 2015 When I first moved to house I live in now, the next door neighbour kept calling me Bruce, which is not my name. I don't know where he got that, because the first time we met, I did introduce myself. I waited for a while before I finally corrected him. I'm sure he's forgotten it now, but I think he was pretty embarrassed at the time.
KrAzY Posted July 17, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 17, 2015 I used to call a guy Jimmy.. his name was Tom... I did it because I knew it bothered him, but he was a coward and would not call me out on it for 4 years. I miss teasing Jimmy!

2Far ★ Posted July 17, 2015 Share #16 Posted July 17, 2015 I get called "Bill" a lot. It comes from the association with our last name. FTR, I'm Bill's smarter brother.
Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted July 17, 2015 Share #17 Posted July 17, 2015 It is true, all Texicans have to add Bob to the end of their first name. Bob's my middle name so that would be correct. Bob's also my Uncle. Texas is a destination on my escape from Ohio plan. Texas will welcome me because I know how to make real chili.

jsharr ★ Posted July 17, 2015 Share #22 Posted July 17, 2015 I am not sure how it started, but we had a group of friends that would randomly start calling a guy at a club "larry" Just walk by and say "Hey Larry!", etc..I introduced this to the crew of a boat I was sailing on. We were at a regatta and we just picked out a boat and started calling the skipper Larry whenever we would sail past him in the pre race. Some other boats picked up on it and started doing the same thing. We did it to him at dinner in the big tent that night,By the end of the regatta, boats were sailing past us and they would all yell at us "HEY LARRY!"It was pretty funny at the time.
