LoneWolf Posted July 25, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 25, 2015 We did Congoleum Duraceramic tile. You can do it with grout, or right up against each other (we did grout for a little more). It cost us two grand at the time, but we have a smallish kitchen and dining room. (Note: image below is not our kitchen/dining room).

The contractor put a thin layer of wood over the existing linoleum, and then put the tile on top of that. The linoleum was pretty old stuff, not that thick, and so it didn't cause an issue for us. We've had it several years now and been happy so far. We chose the grout both for the look, but I also thought cat litter might work its way in between non-grouted tile eventually and cause issues. Airehead Posted July 25, 2015 Share #8 Posted July 25, 2015 In all seriousness, you should talk to Mr. Cheese about flooring advice. This a topic that he learned at his daddy's knee.
KrAzY Posted July 26, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 26, 2015 I did the flooring of a 15x30 room for under 4 grand with bamboo.
petitepedal ★ Posted July 26, 2015 Author Share #10 Posted July 26, 2015 My living room/dining room is somewhere around 14 by 26..that does not include 2 hallways or the kitchen which would probably be done at the same time..then there are the 2 bedrooms. I am tired of this carpet...it is probably 20 years old..maybe a bit older..
