Randomguy Posted July 27, 2015 Share #1 Posted July 27, 2015 Never go to the Prospect Park bandshell, though, the sound system sucks.
jsharr ★ Posted July 27, 2015 Share #2 Posted July 27, 2015 Martha and I went and watched Mark David Manders play at Love and War in Texas on Friday night.
Randomguy Posted July 27, 2015 Author Share #3 Posted July 27, 2015 Was this Manders fellow good?I went to see Interpol on Tuesday, and Modest Mouse on Wednesday. I wasn't super-impressed with Interpol. Modest Mouse was better, but the worst banter of any band I have ever seen. He really should have just shut up between the songs. The sound system detracted from the overall, but people-watching was good.

I really enjoyed the Brit-rock resurgence they were a part of in the mid-2000s.Not a huge fan of Modest Mouse - aside from the most excellent song "Dashboard". jsharr ★ Posted July 27, 2015 Share #5 Posted July 27, 2015 He is a local guy that plays "Red Dirt" or Texas music. They are a five piece. Drums, bass, lead guitar, fiddle and Mark as vocals and rhythm guitar.
Randomguy Posted July 27, 2015 Author Share #6 Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) Cool - I would like to see Interpol. I really enjoyed the Brit-rock resurgence they were a part of in the mid-2000s.Not a huge fan of Modest Mouse - aside from the most excellent song "Dashboard".It probably would have been better if the sound system wasn't so muddy, lots of nuance gone. There were a couple of good Interpol songs, though. The crowd skewed a little older toward Modest Mouse, even though the relative popularity of both bands started at roughly the same point in our collective consciousness. Anyway, MM has a punchier sound that escaped the poor equipment a little more easily. Edited July 27, 2015 by Randomguy™
F_in Ray Of Sunshine Posted July 27, 2015 Share #7 Posted July 27, 2015 Saw Decemberists last night at Ommegang. They did a great show but your home girls (Brooklyn) opening for them - Lucius - kinda sucked. Totally forgettable dance pop crap. I really wanted to like them because they were different, but I just couldn't.

F_in Ray Of Sunshine Posted July 28, 2015 Share #9 Posted July 28, 2015 I like what I've heard of the DecemberistsI'm most familiar with their two most recent albums. Both are excellent, but have some real "brain worms" on them. What I heard of their earlier stuff at the show tells me I've gotta dig into their back catalog.
