Olas Nah Posted November 22, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted November 22, 2013 Co-worker across from me. Says they've never seen it. Two other people nearby (I have an R2-D2 alert sound on my phone) ask me what that noise was. So I ask her, have you heard of 'Darth Vader' and one of them is like, "No". The others are like, "Ooooo, I 'think' I've heard of that." JFC people....

Olas Nah Posted November 22, 2013 Author Share #5 Posted November 22, 2013 I could understand if maybe you grew up without a TV and only listened to Russian radio broadcasts of symphony music for ballet, but sooner or later you might at least catch a radio interview with somebody who worked on Star Wars, seen an article, etc, and at least be 'aware' of the trilogy enough to identify a main character, it's that saturated in our culture...so it's pretty friggin weird for somebody not to have just never seen any of the films, but to not even know the name 'Darth Vader'..... Right after I stomp out the world's organized religions, I am going to force all people to watch Star Wars and settle this...

Nate Posted November 22, 2013 Share #8 Posted November 22, 2013 that's really the prime age to have seen at least one of the Star Wars movies, and you would almost have to be aware that there were these "Star Wars" movies made and that they were really popular Like I haven't actually seen any Harry Potter movies, but I am still aware that there is this character named Harry Potter and there are alot of movies and books out there and alot of people have seen them

This is a good way to grow up with the books and films tho. The 3rd Potter film (Prizoner of Azkaban) is the best IMO, although #5 is good too. The material wasn't quite my thing at first but I enjoy them. Pure escapism/fantasy...but I prefer the Lord of the Rings triology...the extended cut versions. I could watch 'Fellowship' all day long. Nate Posted November 22, 2013 Share #11 Posted November 22, 2013 I could watch 'Fellowship' all day long. which is good, because the extended cut runs close to 4 hours
Olas Nah Posted November 22, 2013 Author Share #12 Posted November 22, 2013 But the movies just aren't very good. I personally think 'Empire' is one of the best films ever made...the story takes the initial action-adventure saga of Star Wars and really matures everything to a whole other level. It's too bad that Lawrence Kasdan wasn't given control over 'Jedi', because I think he's what made 'Empire' so good.
Olas Nah Posted November 22, 2013 Author Share #13 Posted November 22, 2013 which is good, because the extended cut runs close to 4 hours The Potter films are pretty long too, each of them. I think the first one had to be about 3hrs long at least, and a few of the others really get up there in running time.

Olas Nah Posted November 22, 2013 Author Share #17 Posted November 22, 2013 "On opening day I ... did a radio call-in show ... this caller, was really enthusiastic and talking about the movie in really deep detail. I said, 'You know a lot about the film.' He said, 'Yeah, yeah, I've seen it four times already.'" —Producer Gary Kurtz, on when he realized Star Wars had become a cultural phenomenon. Chopped Liver Posted November 22, 2013 Share #18 Posted November 22, 2013 For its time, SW was a ground breaking special effects movie. By todays standards, it does kind of suck.

I walked out of it the first time I saw it, but then, American movie humor sucks..... how many times can you tell the same joke? I'd watch 'The Big Bang Theory' if I wanted that nonsense. Olas Nah Posted November 25, 2013 Author Share #28 Posted November 25, 2013 Agreed. I don't really watch that, either, though. You should. The chick in that series must've gotten a boob job, because they're bigger than when the series first started, and she wears clothes less frequently. However, she is getting old.
