Ralphie Posted November 23, 2013 Share #1 Posted November 23, 2013 Springsteen is a pretty good one for Jersey, but he left here for LA ages ago! At least Mellencamp stayed in Indiana, which is pretty unique. Plus, he has a pretty hot wife. So who does your state have?
kingtermite Posted November 23, 2013 Share #2 Posted November 23, 2013 Jimi Hendrix? Kurt Kobain? We've had so many here, it's hard to pick one.
Ralphie Posted November 23, 2013 Author Share #3 Posted November 23, 2013 Jimi Hendrix? Kurt Kobain? We've had so many here, it's hard to pick one. I never realised that Hendrix was from WA, so I would say Cobain. I guess MN is easy - Bob Dylan. Funny - a Prince song just came on the radio - too bad for him, I think Dylan would get it. Although Prince is a very good musician, IMO.
questrider Posted November 23, 2013 Share #4 Posted November 23, 2013 Quite a few fill the bill. Blues: John Lee Hooker. Soul: Stevie Wonder, Aretha, Marvin Gaye among other Motown folks. Rock: Seger, Mitch Ryder. Even Madonna I suppose might garner a few votes.

FTR, my vote for MI out of those would be Marvin Gaye. Love his stuff.

Road Runner Posted November 23, 2013 Share #8 Posted November 23, 2013 Some pretty important people in country music come from VA. The Carter Family, Patsy Cline, The Statler Bros and Roy Clark, just to name a few. We also have a pretty important jazz singer named Ella Fitzgerald from just a few miles away from here. 1

Longjohn Posted November 16, 2018 Share #36 Posted November 16, 2018 His family had the Reznor company in Mercer. Made Reznor heaters that are used all over the country. They sold the company and the new owners are not so good, they built a plant in Mexico. They had a lot of problems with the Mexico plant but I haven’t talked to anyone from the Mercer plant since I Retired.
