That would be in the 50 to 75K per day range. Edited August 23, 2015 by Wilbur
jdc2000 Posted August 23, 2015 Share #9 Posted August 23, 2015 I just finished the Ride Idaho bike tour. The smoke in northern Idaho and northwest Montana is bad. The ride route had to be changed because there were over 2 dozen fires along one of the roads we would have been on. Most of the fires I saw information on were lightning caused. The smoke in northern Idaho and northwest Montana is Most of the fires I saw information on were lightning caused. while I hate seeing the damage, when the wildfire is started by natural causes, I don't get too upset. I worry most about the people fighting the fire, and the people that are caught up in the fire. Wildfires that are caused by nature, are just part of the circle of life. Depends where they take place. If it involves an area within cut permits for forestry companies it can be a fiscal disaster whether natural or not..

Yeah pretty much the entire Northwest has wildfires going on -- including Wilbur's beloved British Columbia. The problem is these fires won't likely stop until the weather changes and they are predicting no change until -- maybe -- next Friday.

Scrapr ★ Posted August 24, 2015 Share #18 Posted August 24, 2015 Bunch of smoke blew into Portland when the wind shifted this weekend. Nasty out there. Couple od the fires are man started. A little one close by a 70's era pick up truck backfired and started a little one. Out in Central Ore a farmer mowing caught a big fire. They have been working weeks on it and it's 0% contained. The John day fire I think was natural started. These fires aren't going to go out until the rains start

Dottleshead ★ Posted August 25, 2015 Author Share #40 Posted August 25, 2015 Lightning-sparked fires broke the state record, surpassing blazes that destroyed more than 300 homes in the same county last year."I'd like to set some different records," Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said. The U.S. is in the midst of one of its worst fire seasons on record with some 11,600 square miles scorched so far. It's only the sixth-worst going back to 1960, but it's the most acreage burned by this date in a decade, so the ranking is sure to rise."It's only Aug. 24th," Isaacson said.
