New fat bike love

We can pretty much use a regular MTB to ride most of the year, and the winter is the best. If a foot of snow drops, it gets quite hard with regular 2.3's. I've thought seriously about a fat bike, or maybe one of those 27.5+ bikes they are pushing this year. Trek has a 29+, but I'm a short dude and think it would be too big. They also came out with carbon framed fat bikes that look sweet. I could be easily talked into one of those.

So...fat bike with front suspension or without?  What's the consensus?

I could have got mine (Framed Minnesota 3.0 XWT) with a Bluto. I wasn't sure I would even ride it much, so I was trying to keep the expense to a minimum. Now I'm wondering if the Bluto is a must on the trails I ride. Steep dives into ravines with pine tree roots going crossways and making a bunch of little drop-offs. I don't know if suspension up front would help or hinder overall. I just know I have to move my ass back, hold on for dear life, and pray real hard. So far, so good!!

It can be hard to impossible on a fatbike, too. Depends on the snow. That loose, cornmeal stuff? Plan on doing a lot of pushing. Groomed snowmobile trail? Grin like a fool.

All depends on what you're going to be doing with it. I do a lot of rail bed, snowmobile trail, fire road and frozen lake riding and don't see a need for a squishy fork. Even the rooty, rocky stuff I occasionally ride is fine without. (Of course my "regular" 29'er is rigid, too, so WTF do I know?)
