Square Wheels Posted September 13, 2015 Share #1 Posted September 13, 2015 Finished in 1 hour.Wife crashed at 6 miles, scooped her off the road, stuffed her the sag wagon, rode back to the start. Sitting in the er waiting for a cat scan. She cracked her helmet. Just a precaution, all should be well. Big headach, road rash.

Road Runner Posted September 13, 2015 Share #3 Posted September 13, 2015 Crashes are never good, but if no serious injuries, that's great! Sounds like the helmet did its job well. Was her crash from touching wheels? I never like riding in big groups because of that threat.

They slowed for a patch of sand. She touched wheels and went down. I got to watch, that sucked.
Former member Posted September 13, 2015 Share #5 Posted September 13, 2015 Honey and Tegaderm FTW. DO NOT use hydrogen peroxide on the road rash. How's her bike?
MoseySusan Posted September 13, 2015 Share #6 Posted September 13, 2015 Peace be the healing. I'll send chili rub if some grilled pork chops would help.

Former member Posted September 13, 2015 Share #10 Posted September 13, 2015 Hands are fine. Elbow, thigh and knee.Bendy road rash hurts if you let it scab up. Keep it moist with honey(or Neosporin type stuff), and Tegaderm will protect it from getting contaminated.

Former member Posted September 13, 2015 Share #12 Posted September 13, 2015 thanks. I should see if we can score some from the er. Tegaderm is good stuff for a cyclist to have on hand.I could cover my entire body(several times) with the stuff left over from my wreck.
Road Runner Posted September 13, 2015 Share #13 Posted September 13, 2015 Some rash is better left dry to scab over as quickly as possible.

Former member Posted September 13, 2015 Share #17 Posted September 13, 2015 Some rash is better left dry to scab over as quickly as possible. Sure, but it's more painful, and more likely to scar.

Square Wheels Posted September 13, 2015 Author Share #24 Posted September 13, 2015 We've been home for a couple hours now. CT showed no fracture and no bleeding. Take it easy for a few days and all will be well.Thank you to everyone who donated toward this ride, regardless of me finishing, the money still went to a great cause. I am sad I didn't get to ride, it was perfect weather (cool and misty) and I was feeling a lot stronger than I had in a while. It would have been a good ride, but that was not in the cards for today.
