Smart phone batteries

I think I need a new one on my LG ....doesn't seem to hold a charge longer than half a day    Might be my first vacation purchase.

How long should a battery last on these stoopid things?

Li-Ion battery cells (what is in most smartphones) have a recharge capacity of 90% or greater for 300-500 recharges. It drops off sharply after that. In my RC days I used Lipo (lithium polymer) and I had a charging tracker. Would usually switch out after 250 charges since the capability to sustain heavy draw on the battery also dropped off sharply.

Switch off things that you don't use.  Wifi and GPS are huge power drains.  When not using them, turn them off.  I find that phones are good for 2 years, tops.  Then you need a new one.  Of course Apple has non-replaceable batteries.  Smart.  I am in the market for a phone now since Koda provided me a phone for the past 10 years.  I will have to pay my cell bill for the first time in a while.  But the new place will give me 45 dollars a month towards a phone.  I wonder if I will stray from Apple this time?  Probably not.
