petitepedal ★ Posted September 21, 2015 Share #4 Posted September 21, 2015 I pay $1 a week to be part of a pool...about 10 chances maybe 15...twice a week for that $1....the pool is mostly 80 year olds...hope that ups my odds
Kirby Posted September 21, 2015 Share #5 Posted September 21, 2015 No. A few times I've gotten scratch off cards as a gift from a friend, but there are so many different games and different rules for the lottery, I'm not even sure I'd know how to figure out if I won. And I'd hate to have to bring them back to the store just to have the clerk keep telling me I'm a loser.

Indy Posted September 21, 2015 Share #7 Posted September 21, 2015 "The lottery: a tax on people who are bad at math"Exactly, every time I don't buy one, I'm what, $10 closer to retirement now. Pretty sure they aren't just $1 anymore, no clue how much they are now.
KrAzY Posted September 21, 2015 Share #8 Posted September 21, 2015 And I'd hate to have to bring them back to the store just to have the clerk keep telling me I'm a loser. RG will do that for me without having me leave my house... And I do not have to pay him for it
bikeman564™ Posted September 21, 2015 Share #9 Posted September 21, 2015 I rarely buy them on my own, unless the mega millions is super big. I am in a lotto club at work w/ 12 or so other people for the Michigan classic lotto, which costs us $2 / week.

Allen ★ Posted September 21, 2015 Share #15 Posted September 21, 2015 If it is over $100,000,000 I'll buy two tickets. Two tickets doubles my chances of not winning.

And here, they're still talking more property tax increases for "education". I HATE ILLINOIS! It happened in Michigan in the seventies. People are still (and rightly so) bitter about it. Bait and switch, and its legal as long as the government's doing it, not private enterprise. I had one workplace where we had lottery pools when it got big; no longer there. Used to buy lottery tickets once in a great while with an ex-gf as a laugh at life when we lost. Pretty rare, and I haven't bought a ticket in several years. A bazillion dollars disappears into the General Fund.....and schools have to go begging.I used to think, too, that 'education' meant the K-12 kind then I realized by 'education' the politicians meant 'education' of lottery ticket buyers about statistics and odds of winning and math-ery and how great one chance in umpty-brazillion really amounted to andwhat slow learners the average lottery ticket buyers are. smudge ★ Posted September 22, 2015 Share #22 Posted September 22, 2015 I'll sometimes buy one MegaMillions ticket. All I do is hand over a dollar and say, "I'd like to donate a dollar to MegaMillions please." The clerks always chuckle and hand me my (loosing) ticket.
