Airehead Posted September 23, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 23, 2013 So now that we have a mix of cool and uncool folks here, how do we attract strangers to our forum? I really think that we need strangers.
Road Runner Posted September 23, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 23, 2013 Maybe we could offer half-price on new memberships?

torch511 Posted September 23, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 23, 2013 The way to attract strangers is to make sure that the forums show up when you google or bing "bicycling forums" or "cycling forums"

goldendesign Posted September 23, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 23, 2013 The way to attract strangers is to make sure that the forums show up when you google or bing "bicycling forums" or "cycling forums" SEO I did that a long time back but have since forgotten all the tricks. I imagine most of the rules have changed by now too.
Road Runner Posted September 23, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 23, 2013 Maybe more people would google here if the name of the place was like, "The Square Wheels Cycling Forum". Not many people are going to google "Square Wheels" if they are looking to find a cycling forum.
torch511 Posted September 24, 2013 Share #8 Posted September 24, 2013 True RoadRunner but you don't have to have "Cycling" in the title of the forum for search crawlers to find it. Of course the best way is to Pay to have it listed but there is not a lot of competition out there for cycling forums so just putting the appropriate meta tags on the pages should be enough to get on the first google page.

Square Wheels Posted September 24, 2013 Share #10 Posted September 24, 2013 Try getting the word out. Does your LBS send a newsletter? Mine does, I asked them to include a link to the site, they are considering it. How about your local club? It will be like the old Faberge Shampoo TV commercial, “You will tell two friends, and they’ll tell two friends, and so on and so on and so on.” - for those of you ol enough to remember.

jsharr ★ Posted September 24, 2013 Share #22 Posted September 24, 2013 Maybe we should all run an ad in our local Craigslist® to advertise the forum? Who wants to write the ad copy and paste it in here for us to use?
