Popular Post Kirby Posted November 17, 2015 Popular Post Share #1 Posted November 17, 2015 Many, many years ago when I was just a child my godmother gave me a hideous bright pink plastic wallet as a birthday present. That made me feel sad, because I was just a child and it really was rather hideous. Over the years, however, I found another use for my pink wallet and I'd hide it in my family's possessions so that they'd pull it out and be annoyed. That made me feel devilish. One day my father pulled it out of his briefcase during a business meeting and my sister pulled it out of her pocket when she was with her cool, teen friends. That made me laugh.Over the years everyone in my family got in on the joke and we'd take turns hiding it on one another. As we grew older our hiding places got more elaborate. That made us feel clever. My sister's fiance's family hid it in the lower level of a large box of chocolates. We'd have friends mail it from random cities to surprise the recipient. It showed up in luggage and wrapped for numerous Christmas presents. It made us feel silly and light hearted.Somewhere along the way, the pink wallet got lost and none of us could remember where it was and who had it lost. That made me sad. Decades passed and the wallet was just a joyful childhood memory. That made me feel nostalgic. This weekend I was with my sisters doing some errands and when I got home I went to get something out of my purse and found the pink wallet! That made me feel gleeful! Apparently my mom had it all this time and when she was moving my sister was helping her and found the lovely wallet. The End.
Zephyr Posted November 17, 2015 Share #2 Posted November 17, 2015 My mom's family had the same sort of thing with a ugly plastic statue of the Virgin Mary that kept popping up at functions. My mom even had it sent to New York and arranged a tour guide to present it to her sister as a 'prize' during a bus tour of New York City.So what are you planning for the wallet? Something awesome I hope. Christmas is coming
petitepedal ★ Posted November 17, 2015 Share #3 Posted November 17, 2015 LOL...When I made my second trip to family in TN (the first trip they were all on good behavior..since it was a first time meeting for all of us)..My Uncle had this rubber snake...and that thing went back and forth between beds, cars, bags...you name it. So here I am on the Greyhound headed north after Thanksgiving in TN and I feel this strange lump in my duffle bag.. it was the snake...which promptly got mailed back to TN.What a fun tradition Kirby...
Kirby Posted November 17, 2015 Author Share #4 Posted November 17, 2015 We're going to my sister's house for Thanksgiving, so I"ll have to think of something fun. Although I almost hate to give it up so quickly after all these years.
Kzoo Posted November 17, 2015 Share #5 Posted November 17, 2015 What a great story Kirby.Several years ago my wife's family planned a game of Bingo for when everyone was there for the holidays. Don't ask me why Bingo?? So a SIL was visiting relatives well before the holidays and decided to steal several things from their house. Little things that they would not notice as missing but certainly didn't want to part with. Those things got wrapped and used as prizes for the family Bongo game. The result weas a lot of fun. Now the challenge is to steal (borrow) things from others houses during the year without getting caught and wrap them and give them as presents to others in the family. You never know what you might open up and you certainly might learn of something that you lost without knowing it.

Popular Post Kirby Posted November 18, 2015 Author Popular Post Share #13 Posted November 18, 2015 I just got the wallet back this past weekend. Sure, it's a bit worn over the years, but I'm sure a good cleaning will fix it right up to it's original glory!!

Kirby Posted November 18, 2015 Author Share #16 Posted November 18, 2015 I also failed to mention that somewhere during the years, someone taped a picture of Elvis Presley to the back of the wallet.

Chris... Posted November 18, 2015 Share #20 Posted November 18, 2015 My wife's family do the same thing with an ugly silver candle holder. It shows up randomly at family functions.
