SPD-SL pedals - lubrication?

Got my new pedals installed, cleats on the shoes, and took a 6-mile spin around the neighborhood.  They feel great!

I didn't see anything in the pedals manual about lubing the pedals.  Do they need anything?  I didn't do anything to the pedal release mechanism (just grease on the threads before installing on the cranks).

I know the old SPD (MTB pedals) would end up squeaking if they weren't lubed.

I saw a video about taking them apart and re-greasing them.  I have Ultegra pedals.  My shop said I'd never get them back together if I tried and that they will last a long time.  I have a bunch of miles on them, about 8 - 10k.  Still working fine and I've never done anything to them (aside from tip over).

I spray the outside with a dry lube, let it set, then wipe as much off as possible.  The bearings should be maintenance free.

OK, thanks.  The MTB-type SPD pedals have lots of exposed springs and linkages and such, but I guess all the guts on these are contained within.
