Road Runner Posted December 28, 2013 Share #2 Posted December 28, 2013 I always find old abandoned stuff to be really interesting, for some reason.

Thaddeus Kosciuszko Posted December 28, 2013 Share #4 Posted December 28, 2013 Website about abandoned buildings, mostly in the Hudson and Mohawk River Valleys. The website itself isn't very fancy, but the pictures and stories behind the abandoned buildings are excellent. http://www.hudsonvalleyruins.org
Square Wheels Posted December 28, 2013 Share #5 Posted December 28, 2013 Some were creepy, especially Chernobyl.
kingtermite Posted December 28, 2013 Share #6 Posted December 28, 2013 I always find old abandoned stuff to be really interesting, for some reason. Very much so. They didn't have my favorite on there though. Whitby Abbey. I went there in 2004.
Pokey Posted December 29, 2013 Share #7 Posted December 29, 2013 There's a pretty cool program on PBS...it's either Nova or Nature. The Radioactive Wolves of Chernobyl". It was quite interesting...whole cities abandoned and being reclaimed by nature. Spooky. I love snooping around old buildings and such.
Road Runner Posted December 30, 2013 Share #8 Posted December 30, 2013 The SS America (renamed several times), from what I have been able to find on the web, has since disintegrated and fallen into the ocean, the remains only visible at low tide. It is no longer the wreck as the pic shows, which must have been taken several years ago (2007 or earlier). A more recent pic.
Ralphie ★ Posted December 30, 2013 Share #9 Posted December 30, 2013 That is a great picture, RR! Such a huge contrast between those gorgeous waves and that rusty hulk! Here is a nice summary:
