I would like to see P & R flourish

I know how to accomplish this,  but before offering my brilliant proposal,  I'd like to see others struggle with their ideas.  

I think my inspiration came from this, but just wanted to post anyway.  I hope to watch it like on this coming Monday

I say leave it the way it is.  P&R can only breed animosity between posters, which will shirley spill over into the cafe.  Let's not introduce conflict into our little nirvana, please.

Already enters the Café.  I agree completely with your point however I believe if there is a forum that could actually accomplish this, it would be this one. 

The forum is here, the q is can it be improved without disrupting the Café.

The problem with the P&R forum is that it contains too many posts about politics and religion.    

We need to get SW to start another forum where all the stupid posts about politics and religion can be moved to.  Then the P&R forum would be a lot more fun.

Fair, but it's here. Because of it's obscurity,  P & R is starting to bleed over into the Café.  

Either don't have it, or make it the best it can be.

No, again that's the point. My idea incorporated you, Wilbur, and a few others.

 Most forums that have tried have  failed. 

I believed SW was different and it could be done. Unrealistic that gentlemanly scholars like yourself wouldn't want to talk politics during an election year. 

Annoying to have people you like accept the position it can't be done when it could. 

I now throw in the towel however for effort should always be weighed against results.

I was trying to get it going but frankly I just don't care enough.  Realistically, if SW is looking for numbers to hit this website, then I think the P & R needs to flourish.  But I hope it doesn't happen as it's not really why I come to post here now.  Come to think of it... it wasn't the reason I posted 'over there' either.

Since my idea was designed with you, Page, and Wilbur in mind,  I accept defeat and that's why I dropped it. I can tell you that you're unequivocally wrong , however.  Not with your individual points, all or mostly valid, but that a P & R is automatically and naturally doomed.  

Most forums?, absolutely doomed,  100% correct.  This forum is different in that you , at least for now,  have an owner who cares.  Even there however my plan did not rely on his good judgment and or sense of fairness. 

So it's dropped, you punks will never know what might have been. I do think it's a shame that the Maxx and Wilburs of the world don't have a reasonable venue to discuss those 2 subjects especially during an election year. 

The SW P & R forum isn't failing because there aren't people who would participate.  They simply aren't going to waste their time subjecting themselves to the same rubbish of the past.

I don't mind if P&R picks up,  There are still rules, they are just a lot more relaxed there.  That does not mean the topics are allowed to spill out of there and into here.

No, I make no assumptions of the sort. I know the trolls will visit. However,  I know how to deal with them. 

Let me approach it this way.  You and Wilbur are sharp as tacks. You trying to tell me you couldn't come up with a way to maintain peace and control if you were in charge?

I bet @Page Turner could come up with 3 fantastic suggestions and he and I are on opposite ends of the political and beliefs spectrum.  Page can't help himself but bleed over into the Café occasionally but he's a polite, somewhat educated hippie.

If people are jonesing for some P+R, why not find another forum to do that in, where you don't have to worry about ruining relationships you've built up for years?  Go back to BF under a different name and cause as much havoc as you want.

People take online shit way, way, way to seriously.  There are people who like you and hate you.  Basically the BF P&R is filled with asshats.  Most of those asshats moved on.  We moved because we don't take the words typed on an anonymous forum seriously.  I'm left to conclude that those people that do, deserve everything they get.

 

Having said that, I feel confident I could rip a new bung hole in most of the avatars that post.  But I don't.  Why?  Because as Max and the Rev have eluded... it doesn't spill over into the Cafe.  There's no reason to be aggressive in there.  I had my political fun already in a place far, far away.
