Persistence pays. Permit Lady update.

I engaged a "professional" engineer to do my footing calculations.  He showed up this afternoon with his new footing sizes, 16"x16"x16" for all of the posts for the deck.  Much better than the 36"x36"x36" with the 20" slab.  I immediately took those changes to the Permit Lady's office and gave them to the building inspector.  He called an hour later and said I was good to go with the new sizes, and he would see me when I was ready for him to inspect before pouring the cement.  WofTy did a little dance.

its a drag when you have to get building permits. That's why I built all my outbuildings on foundations of old tires

Until I go to them and say I'm done and they come inspect my work and close the permit out, there could always be something else. I spent most of last night thinking I should put all of my communications together and get on the City Council agenda and stir things up a little with how they handle permits from DIYers. Then again, WofTy is starting to hound me to get the thing finished.
