Nick Posted September 27, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2013 after 9 years with my current employer. Hoping they give me the ol' HR heave out the door during the traditional off-site goodbye lunch. Lookin' forward to starting my new gig next Monday. Randomguy Posted September 27, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 27, 2013 Why is it always so danged nice to leave an employer? Even one that you liked? I always feel good after that last day, congrats!
Square Wheels Posted September 27, 2013 Share #7 Posted September 27, 2013 Dunno, I've been here for 22+ years. Guess I'll retire from here. It's a good place to work.
Nick Posted September 27, 2013 Author Share #8 Posted September 27, 2013 This has been a pretty good place to work but it's become stagnant as far as IT goes which was a major driving factor for resigning. A guy I worked with during my consulting days said it best, "The day I stop learning something new here is the day I quit."
Indy Posted September 27, 2013 Share #9 Posted September 27, 2013 This has been a pretty good place to work but it's become stagnant as far as IT goes which was a major driving factor for resigning. A guy I worked with during my consulting days said it best, "The day I stop learning something new here is the day I quit." Great philosophy, but impractical. If I didn't have a family to support, I would've quit my job years ago for this reason.

Is it? Learning is a choice - there is always something to learn. You might have to look a little harder, but there is a lesson in everything. Yes, but at this point, none of that really helps my resume and would help land another job.

Indy Posted September 27, 2013 Share #13 Posted September 27, 2013 Try not to think of the next job, live now, enjoy now - tomorrow is an illusion. When you are surrounded by a bunch of idiots, it's hard to enjoy today. I'm an engineer who some how got stuck in procurement. UGH!!!

That was a nice space.

He was on until he got his new house built and all the other buildings removed and the scrap hauled away. It was fun watching him work. I would have used a dozer but he enjoys doing it by hand.
