A lottery?

Bingo?

Pedals?

Lottery? I have hit three Keno jackpots of over $1,000. My biggest win ever was $3,500.

Bingo? I used to play bingo every week. I once won the $1,000 cover all.

Pedals? Nope.

I enter a lot of stuff.  I also love to call radio stations.  I've won countless CDs, concert tickets, sporting event tickets. I don't like that so many laces are making you sign up via Facebook now.  I don't enter those contests.

I won a T-shirt on a radio call-in show, correctly guessing the item that the three songs played had in common.

I won second prize in an NCAA basketball pool - I think that was around $200.

I won $100 at a blackjack table once, and $250 on a slot machine pull (different visit).

I won the school spelling bee in 4th and 5th grade.

I gathered my IT department people together on a lottery pool, 20 people out of 25 in the department.  We played whenever it hit 100 million or more.

One time, we hit three of the six numbers, and the 3 numbers we didn't hit were one digit off.  So close, yet so far!

I was a third-grade volleyball all-star, and a little league all-star as well.  Oh, I won two small poker tournaments in casinos, and finished in the money in several other tournaments.

A few raffles and I once one $80 in the lotto!   My biggest "win" was a bonus I got at work in 2008.   I'd like to say it was due to my outstanding performance but it really was a perfect storm of events.   2006 saw several law suits hit with huge legal fees dragging down my P&L.  In January of 2007 we renegotiated our contract with better rates & margins so my profitability took off like a rocket when comparing year over year profit performance which I was bonused on.  I ended up getting 150% of my base salary in bonus due to the year over year profit improvement which was really a result of two factors totally out of my control!

Win for me but 2 years later I got laid off and fortunately saved much of that money for a rainy day as we needed it...

The only thing that comes to mind is a time many years ago I took a young man (we'll call him Adam - because his name is Adam) that didn't have a father in his life, to a CBA basketball game.  He was probably 14 years old.  I bought a program and before the game we were watching the warmups and leafing through the program.  I noticed that on one of the pages that one of the players had autographed his picture.  I also knew that at half time they had a shooting contest for the one person that had the program with the players autographed.  So as halftime approached I made sure that Adam had the program in his hands.  When the announcer asked who had the program Adam just sat there.  It took a little prodding by me to get him to check it out and when he saw the autograph he started jumping around.  He went down to the court and in front of about 300 people, he had the chance to hit a layup for something like $25 or a foul shot for $100 or a 3pt shot for $500 or a half court shot for $1000.  He chose the foul shot.  His shot hit the rim and rolled around and around and around and around and around the rim and finally rolled out.  The fans were going crazy as his shot deciding what to do.  As a consolation he got to keep the official CBA basketball.  It was a very happy time for me probably because I knew for the whole first half that he was going to get the chance to go down on the court.

Other than that back in 1978 I won $2.00 on the only scratch off lottery ticket I ever purchased.

I won a fancy 22 ounce German beer glass at a music trivia contest at a bar. A couple noisy drunks, who weren't playing the trivia, kept blurting out the answers. At first I was annoyed, but then I just started using their responses, and by the time it was over, I had won.

Won about $700 twice at the slot machines. Enough to get 2 W-2G's that year.

I did a polar plunge two years ago and paid my entry fee but didn't pester anyone to sponsor me. They were selling 50/50 tickets so I bought a bunch of them to help the charity out. Just as they were starting the countdown for the plunge they called my name. I trudged up from the lake through the snow in my speedo and they handed me a big stack of money. I handed about 2/3 of it back to them. Stuck the rest of the money ? in my towel and did the plunge. My portion was $80.

I don't enter contests etc. But I was once talked into joining a poker game with some coworkers. First time playing and I walked away with the pot. 4 of us and I walked away with $200. :P

Gina is usually pretty lucky. In Vegas she usually wins. Though she doesn't play much, she wins but not big. One time she won like $150 bucks then stopped after a day of playing on their money. Right as we were getting ready to leave, she put a few bucks on the wheel and won $300! :hapydance: She wanted to play more after that but I stopped her since we were on our way out of town, so we left toward the good.

Another time she played and lost about $30 then hit for about $400. Left town in the good! :hapydance:

At work she likes to participate in the costume contests. Second time she has won a $100 gift certificate. :hapydance:

I won a 25" color TV around 1963. Color TVs were still somewhat rare then.

A Giant BMX bike. I gave it to my kids who left it outside where it got stolen.

WoJSTL won a 55" flat screen TV at work and she didn't even know that she had entered a drawling. She had donated to a charity at the hospital. Unfortunately it was damaged in shipping plus it was too big for any room in our house. We asked for a smaller TV so they gave us a 60".

I've won many items on ebay. Do they still say that when you are the highest bidder?

I won a bike raffle a couple years ago at a charity ride - chose a bike for my wife to cruise the neighborhood on. Three co-workers and I won about $2700 in the lottery in 1986. We were one digit off from the $13M jackpot.  :(

.. and the name was____________________??

The course was located mid way between the town of Elmira, and the village of Floradale, which was where I lived. I combined elements of the names and, viola, Eldale Valley Golf Club.

They kept that name for quite a number of years, but at some point renamed it Elmira Golf Club.

Don't remember what I did with the 5 bucks, but most likely spent it all in one place.

  • 2 weeks later...

A computer motherboard.

A Fitbit Blaze Smartwatch in a raffle at a conference this past summer.

$200 in a heads-or-tails coin flip raffle at a fundraiser.  I predicted six or seven consecutive flips correctly.

A lousy periodic table of the elements T-shirt that served to shame me more than give pride among fellow students for a high school science poster contest that I took first in in the city (organizers must have been cheap).
