ChrisL Posted January 17, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2017 Thanks Caretaker for the tip. Made some tonight and it turned out really good. I saute'd some onion and celery, made a roux, seasoned it up and added some milk, cod and salmon. Put it in a glass dish and layered it with mashed potato. Oh man tasty! Caretaker Posted January 17, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 17, 2017 You're welcome ChrisL. My version of this classic is the basic and simple one. If you look online you'll probably find ones with boiled egg and capers in the fish mix also ground nutmeg in the White sauce.
Longjohn ★ Posted January 17, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 17, 2017 I'll bet that would be good with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on it.

I made mine with a similar flavor to clam chowder but with the fish and less milk so it was more like a cream sauce then a chowder broth. It went well with the mashed potato's.
