Popular Post Kirby Posted February 25, 2017 Popular Post Share #6 Posted February 25, 2017 Why do you get out of bed in the morning? : Most days it's a need to go to a job and earn a living at a job I prefer to any other job I can think of at this stage. That and a hungry cat that keeps meowing loudly. What makes you feel alive? Many things - but most recently one of those cold clear days where the sun is shining and all the world seems to be glistening and bright, and the air is just invigorating. What inspires you? Lots of things in different ways - people struggling with difficulties with grace and good spirit. People who work hard to make a positive difference or a positive impact on other people.. A goal I consider meaningful and achievable - to name just a few.

Guest Posted February 25, 2017 Share #9 Posted February 25, 2017 Get out of bed cause I have to! exercise playing hard and being with Gina makes me feel alive. What inspires me, trying to stay healthy and strong. Other than that, I'd stay in bed.

I am inspired by watching a young person learn a new skill. The kid learning to walk after doctors said he never would. Running a quiet trail in the early morning fog with just my friend Lindy for company makes me feel alive--- alone is good for the soul sometimes. Counting my Blessings never stops making me appreciate a rich full life.
ChrisL Posted February 25, 2017 Share #11 Posted February 25, 2017 Easy, my family. I live for them and they inspire me to be a better person. To lead by example, to provide a stable platform for them to leap from. Without my family I'd probably feel without purpose.

Caretaker Posted February 25, 2017 Share #16 Posted February 25, 2017 Because getting out of bed is more interesting than staying in bed. Riding a bike makes me feel alive. I don't do 'inspiration', that's an American preoccupation.
Wilbur ★ Posted February 25, 2017 Share #17 Posted February 25, 2017 Really? I have always found most people who excel at any given thing were heavily inspired by some sort of predecessor. Much more so than influence of nationality.
Popular Post Square Wheels Posted February 25, 2017 Author Popular Post Share #18 Posted February 25, 2017 I'm inspired by my daughter. The day we left the hospital with her, we went straight to an orthopedic surgeon who put her in a harness for her hip. That lasted 6 weeks or so, and didn't work. Off to Children's to get put in a body cast until she was one or so. Never got to hold my infant daughter, I held her cast. Then when she started walking she needed a physical therapist because she was so far behind. She's always been the shortest / smallest in her class, still is. Around age 13 she got diagnosed with celiac too. But it didn't end there. She's allergic to eggs, milk, nuts, fish, carrots, bananas and a few other things I can't remember. She gets reflux that bothers her a lot. Had a few throat biopsies to see what foods might be bothering it. A couple of years ago her orthopedic surgeon (she's seen him all her life for her hip) noticed a curvature in her back. Off to a different ortho guy. He watched it for a year or two, then decided she needed a back brace. She's supposed to wear it 18 hours a day. She's a sophomore in high school and needs to wear a back brace. She's handled this all so well, much better than I ever could have. She's been a straight A student her whole life and is a joy to be around.

BuffJim Posted February 25, 2017 Share #21 Posted February 25, 2017 My faith in Jesus inspires me. Like Further, I want to see what's next in this interesting world. Also I think that the plan for my life right now is to be working. So I do. Wouldn't be fair to my loved ones if I didn't.

Randomguy Posted February 26, 2017 Share #28 Posted February 26, 2017 Hard to answer those questions right now. I would probably sound whiny, so I won't bore with the details. I think you go along your happy path and life is good. Over the years, life starts introducing things that can be perceived by an observant person as worse and worse. People die, friends get married and drift away, or don't get married and drift away, or you realize that you drift away. You may be in a relationship where your partner is mentally ill and successfully hid it from you, or you may be in a relationship where your partner is mentally stupid and dimly aware (if that), but struggled through a masters degree in a field populated by those that are similarly disabled, so you thought they were just quirky and airheaded (sorry Airehead, not you!). You grow tired of repetitive work that pays well, or you are in a field you like but scrape by, and you realize that most of your bosses are not nice or good people or particularly gifted or caring in either case So much more, but you get the idea. Sigh.
Airehead Posted February 26, 2017 Share #29 Posted February 26, 2017 SW, thank you for creating an environment where your daughter can know she is loved--- so very important for everyone but especially kids who may appear different than her peers. And it sounds like she is different-- motivated, bright, joyful, resilient . Don't you wish all high schoolers had these traits.
