Randomguy Posted September 27, 2013 Share #1 Posted September 27, 2013 The very best ice cream place in the world announced today that they had my very favorite flavor that they make after not having it for 5 months or so. Then they sold out, in a few hours. The wife called anyway, and it turned out that they had just made another 3 gallons of it. I bought the 3 gallon container, going to pick it up in a couple of hours. http://www.amplehills.com/flavors.php
Square Wheels Posted September 27, 2013 Share #2 Posted September 27, 2013 Read what a serving size is and try to stick with it. It will be amazingly small, especially if you are honest in measuring it.

It is like pizza that way, one pizza is one serving. If there are two people there, the pizza is now two servings. Ideally, though, one pizza is a serving, no matter how large the pizza is.
Dirtyhip Posted September 27, 2013 Share #4 Posted September 27, 2013 Looks tasty. It must be good, because most of them are sold out.

It is universally agreed around these parts that their ice cream has never been equaled by anyone on earth.
jsharr ★ Posted September 27, 2013 Share #6 Posted September 27, 2013 There are over 90 of us here, so three gallons is not going to be that big of a serving.

Dirtyhip Posted September 28, 2013 Share #10 Posted September 28, 2013 I thought buying a case of canned tuna was expensive. Holy smokes!

Randomguy Posted September 28, 2013 Author Share #12 Posted September 28, 2013 Oh man! That is a lot! Yeah, well worth it! Plus, I save $66 vs. buying by the pint ($9/pint). It is just an infrequent flavor that I like a lot, and just didn't want to get shut out of. Kind of ridiculous, really, but what the hell. You are close enough to come have some, btw. The wife bought it for me, so that was cool, too!

Reverend_Maynard Posted September 29, 2013 Share #16 Posted September 29, 2013 Remember, air is the enemy. Make sure you put some saran wrap or parchment paper directly on the top of the ice cream after scooping so that direct exposure to air is minimized. That will help prevent any freezer funk from taking hold.

Road Runner Posted September 29, 2013 Share #20 Posted September 29, 2013 That's kind of a funny coincidence, actually. I recently had a guy who was working on my HVAC give me a tip for keeping various opened and partially used container products, such as paints and sealers, fresh. It was the same idea. He said to lay plastic wrap down over the exposed product before putting the lid back on and that the product would stay useable much longer that way. It works! Randomguy Posted September 30, 2013 Author Share #23 Posted September 30, 2013 I had lots of ice cream. There were two occurrences where about a pint and a half mysteriously disappeared at a time. Yummy! There is still quite a lot left for anyone that wants to share. Hey, Reverend Maynard, you want to take some back to Rhode?
