Caretaker Posted May 24, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 24, 2017 My wife sings in an Irish language choir and they were in a concert last night where the venue was a Presbyterian church that I've passed thousands of times over the last 65 years but never been into. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbey_Presbyterian_Church,_Dublin Before the concert a person from the church gave the customary safety lecture about exits and then invited us (all faiths and none) to join him in a short remembrance prayer for the victims of Monday night's atrocity in Manchester. The concert started and the second song's lyrics were explained in English Quote It is supposedly sung by a mother whose son, a priest, has turned to the Protestant faith, and she is calling him back. https://songoftheisles.com/2013/02/13/fill-fill-a-run-o/ I found it funny that here we were listening to this song in a protestant church. From the reaction of others in the audience I don't think I was the only one who got the ironic humour of the situation. Humour is about humanity and transcends politics or religion.
