Square Wheels Posted May 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted May 25, 2017 Well, how do you like your screws? In plates for switches and plugs? Vertical? Horizontal? Don't really care?
Longjohn ★ Posted May 25, 2017 Share #2 Posted May 25, 2017 I'm left handed so I like the left handed screws.

Indy Posted May 25, 2017 Share #5 Posted May 25, 2017 Vertical, all of them should be vertical. It's a more professional look and shows you pay attention to detail.
F_in Ray Of Sunshine Posted May 25, 2017 Share #6 Posted May 25, 2017 I've been told I have a screw loose, so "loose" must be my answer.

Randomguy Posted May 25, 2017 Share #13 Posted May 25, 2017 I agree that the only obligation is to screw until tight, then stop. I think shows more attention to reality than to appearance, you want them done to tightness. Besides, nobody is looking at your outlets and light switches, you ocd bastards!

Further Posted May 25, 2017 Share #20 Posted May 25, 2017 As a young and conscientious electrician, while trimming out a house, I carefully aligned all the cover plate screws. ( I think I made them horizontal ) My boss walked through the house, turned to me and asked, 'ya line all the screws up like that on purpose?' I proudly replied 'yep'. He looked me in the eye, and snarled ' do that again and I'll fire you' Seems that as a young electrician he had trimmed house, aligning all the screws, shortly after he left all the plastic cover plates had cracked. A call back to replace all the cover plates didn't amuse his boss.
