19, texting and driving.   I wish all states had hands free laws and strictly enforced them.  Very sad, also for the teen.  He needs to live with the fact that he murdered someone.  This was not an accident.

If you're responding to me, I guess I should have included my sentiment that he should serve at least 10 years, or whatever the minimum is for manslaughter. Probably more for leaving the scene too.

My sentiment is heard all too often when young offenders are given excessively light sentences.  You are correct, this is and should be a jail time offense.

I suspect that would go down like prohibition.  What's a few thousand deaths when something important like drinking/texting driving is in question.

I have suggested this elsewhere and the hostility it was met with was unbelievable.

I think at the present level of tech it doesn't.

I think justice, in this case, should be simple.

One of the dead cyclist's family members should mow down the young Moser man with a vehicle.

Then tell the judge "Hey, I was looking at my phone.  I want the same sentence Moser got, thank you."
