Been out of the game a little bit...(Wheelset help)

What goes for a strong and affordable wheelset for a rider that weighs in at around 215lbs? I think I used to read that some Mavic Open pros or something were good with a high spoke count, but not sure what is out there these days. I've been off the bike for nearly 3 years and am not sure what is even out there.

Did the Aksiums hold up through the Summer riding season?

"Tough" wheels are often a product of wheel design, building skill, AND rider skill. In other words, even the most bullet proof wheel will eventually fail due to careless riding (even under a 130lbs cyclist).  I've broken a couple spokes in the past decade, and I think both times were my fault.  On the other hand, I had a pair of Ksyrium ES rims that developed hairline cracks around the nipples. I don't know who was to blame for that, but googling it shows it was not unheard of.

I had that happen twice: once on my Ksyrium SLs and another on my Ksyrium Elites.

Some women developed hairline cracks around the nipples from nursing. Anhydrous lanolin clears that right up, I don't know if it will work on wheels?
