This is the Dorais velodrome which opened in '69 in Detroit but hasn't been used in decades, sadly. Our ride yesterday went to it, and while it's all beat to hell, there is still a line that can be used to ride it. So I did twice. Could be volunteers cutting the grass...probably is. I recall seeing the Bicycling article. I was taking the first of two required classes to qualify to ride the track, and near the end of the session, I went into the steeply banked curve too slow, and the pedal striking the boards put me down, hard.
