Popular Post Gump Posted August 13, 2017 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 13, 2017 26.2 with a bit of climbing. Not sure if you can tell from the photo but we started in the valley. It was 2 miles at around 7% to where I took the picture. After that was 4 miles at 3-4%. 8

Now you can put one of those 26.2 oval stickers on your car! Good job. 3 1
Popular Post Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted August 13, 2017 Popular Post Share #3 Posted August 13, 2017 I needed 67 miles to reach 3,000 for the year, so that was my goal today. Mike and Daniel texted me last night to see if I could ride at 6:00 am. Mike had to be back by 8:30 so we were somewhat limited. We rode to DC with the goal of riding a few laps around Haines Point. Yesterday's rain caused some flooding so Haines Point was closed. Finished the morning ride with 36 miles. Ambrosia just got her first road bike and wanted to ride. We did a short 6.5 miles. After she left I headed west on the W&OD and picked up 26 miles. 68.28 miles, 4:07, 16.56 avg with 1,121 feet climbed. 3,001.23 for the year.

Popular Post Zealot Posted August 13, 2017 Popular Post Share #5 Posted August 13, 2017 Communed with nature for a little over 2 hours. Lots of hikers and families out today. Passed one family on a ridge, hopped a log as I wrmt by and their little boy yelled, "Daddy, how'd he do that?" Passed a long line of hikers ascending the steepest and most technical descent I do on this trail. They gave me a much berth as they could, So I passed them in trials fashion. They were all friendly, the last of them says "be careful!" After we exchanged pleasantries. I yelled back, "thanks!" And opened it up!! :-) Passed a family crossing a 15 - 20 foot wide stream. They were crossin on rocks with little kids. I told them I eas crossing the upstream side. They all stopped and watched. Mom gave me two thumbs up as I exited the water. I laughed. I realized a couple things. I think the average person knows little about mountain biking. And we have the opportunity to be ambassadors on public trails. It was a good day.

JerrySTL ★ Posted August 14, 2017 Share #11 Posted August 14, 2017 Just under 21 miles at 15.1 mph avg. Great weather but I had to cut the ride short due to acid reflux. I hadn't been bothered by that stuff for many months. In fact I stopped taking Nexium recently. I just checked and I don't have MD after my name.
