Popular Post Further Posted August 17, 2017 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 17, 2017 Pics of the creek, the abandoned stone house by the creek, a (carnivorous) pitcher plant, and the rocky outcrop. This section of creek is know as the slides, kids love to slide down the smooth limestone. The stone house I would love to know the history of. This area was logged in the early 1900's, a railroad followed the creek to haul the logs to a mill in a town about 10 miles away. I guess the stone house was some type of office, or lodging for the boss. The pitcher plant is a (relatively) high altitude bog, about 3100' The rocks are a known Timber Rattlesnake den. In the spring and fall you are more likely than not to spot a snake. I saw a 4 footer as big around as my calf here. This time of year they aren't likely to be around, but I was still pretty cautious climbing around. 9

You better ask him if he's "capable of fixing a roof". "Handy" means something different to him.

BuffJim Posted August 17, 2017 Share #12 Posted August 17, 2017 Nice pictures Further. I've never seen a wild rattlesnake, though I've spent plenty of time in their habitat. I usually walk in the woods a lot from Sept to May. Not so much in the buggy months, though I did hike in the Adirondacks two days in June this year. Planning to go back last weekend of September.

I live right in the middle of one of those blotches. There are deer everywhere. I spend a lot of time outdoors. Have only ever even had one tick. ? Seldom find them on the dog, too. Parr8hed Posted August 17, 2017 Share #14 Posted August 17, 2017 Careful what you ask for. (about wanting to know the history of the stone house). There is a local place here that many have seen on hikes overlooking the Ohio river. If you investigate this is what you get. http://theaccidentalspook.blogspot.com/2012/06/curses-and-witches-castle.html this happened there. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Shanda_Sharer
