Square Wheels Posted August 21, 2017 Share #7 Posted August 21, 2017 I bet a band like The Fixx (whom I like) thought life was good when that song came out. They were a big hit. Now 30+ years later when they play it, they probably want to kill themselves.

I think the trajectory is to first have the big hit, or even a couple of them, then become irrelevant, fade into obscurity, get bitter, stage a comeback playing that hit, hate it, stop for a while, then start to appreciate it again. I think the stages are "Yeah, big hit!" "I am tired of playing this every damn night." "I am never playing that again." "At least I have that one song people will still pay to hear."

Cool, I'm not sure of the injury, I do recall him having some issue though. If I lived near his shop, I'd frequent it
ChrisL Posted August 21, 2017 Share #10 Posted August 21, 2017 Saw The Fixx in 83 or 84. That I recall it was a good show. Haven't given them much thought since....

LoneWolf Posted August 21, 2017 Share #12 Posted August 21, 2017 When you only have a couple of big hits like The Fixx, you probably do end up hating them as those end up being what people want to hear. if we're going to do 80s concerts, I'd like The Cars, Bob Seger, or Bruce Springsteen. They should write better new stuff, better enough that the have to limit the old stuff. 34 minutes ago, F_in Ray Of Sunshine said: Cy Curnin? Jamie West-Oram? Adam Woods? Rupert Greenall? People refuse to listen and give it a chance. They might as well stay home and listen to their 8-tracks.
