Popular Post Wilbur ★ Posted August 21, 2017 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 21, 2017 Like anything else. I was a kid when I saw my last full solar eclipse. The fun of it was the preparation. My Dad built a 4X8 foot wood frame to hold a sheet of wire reinforced glass a neighbour supplied. We then smoked the glass by using an acetylene torch to put a pretty uniform coat ing of soot on it. We slid the glass onto a portion of the back yard hot house and Mom placed old curtains around the area the glass covered. We had a nicely darkened and safe viewing area! All the neighbours came and everyone got a good look. Dad got some great photos. The experience eclipsed the eclipse by a long way. If your kids or grandkids are excited, let them be. 4
