Airehead Posted August 23, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2017 Why do they make things that look and are supposed to taste like meat for people who don't eat meat?

Because they used to be meat eaters, and it's really hard to break yummy habits like that. These are really, really good.
Airehead Posted August 23, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted August 23, 2017 Why not eat a portabella mushroom instead? Yummy on a bun with lettuce and tomato
Square Wheels Posted August 23, 2017 Share #4 Posted August 23, 2017 I may force myself to try them again. I do not like mushrooms at all. They have no flavor except the taste of dirt to me.
tybeegb Posted August 23, 2017 Share #5 Posted August 23, 2017 I guess it's the same thing with "near" beer. I could not get past the "I'm eating what(?) in this "ham"burger" thought.

pedalphile Posted August 23, 2017 Share #9 Posted August 23, 2017 Tempeh isn't pretend meat but is rather delicious. In the UK there are the outstanding Frys brand with meat substitute products. Their burgers even cost more than the 'real' thing.

I still remember the time my buddy made sandwiches with grilled portobello mushrooms that had been marinated in Italian dressing, with sharp cheese (Asiago, IIRC). OK, well, for full disclosure there was some really nice salami on that sandwich too - but it'd have been really good even without that.
Zephyr Posted August 23, 2017 Share #13 Posted August 23, 2017 I was going to do a parody thread of this "Pretend Meat" thread, but no way I am googling 'women's vibrator' images at work. 2

Longjohn ★ Posted August 23, 2017 Share #19 Posted August 23, 2017 Vegie burgers are good if they are processed right. First you take the vegetables and feed them to a cow, then you eat the cow.
