Hopefully it will run faster, and crash less.

It may take a little while for indexes to reset, but once they are, all will be better.

But it will probably make RG whine just as much.

Supposedly.  I don't know if it's easier or less to administer.

I'm not a DBAdmin, but I know enough about MS SQL to do basic maintenance with it.

MySQL is a bit like it if you use SQLyog to manage it, though I'll admit to knowing less.

I only know that MariaDB is supposed to have better performance.  But knowledge of it is scarcer.
