Rattlecan ★ Posted August 28, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 28, 2017 The mystique of the trucker's lifestyle has been glamorized, dramatized, dreamed about and longed after, but mostly, it's a dull, mundane day to day experience. Except when it's not. Here's a memorable moment from about 40 years ago I posted on another forum. http://hankstruckforum.com/htforum/index.php?topic=57384.0 1

Longjohn ★ Posted August 28, 2017 Share #4 Posted August 28, 2017 Sometimes when you are weary from long hours on the highway you see something that just strikes you as really funny. I had twelve stores worth of housewares on my truck spread out over three hundred miles or so. I wanted to get them all off and go home but it didn't look possible. I managed to get off 11 stores and number twelve was in Marietta, Ohio and I arrived just after they closed. I went over to the Evergreen truck stop to get something to eat and when I went in the men's room to wash up there was a condom machine on the wall and someone had written a warning on the machine with a sharpie: "Don't buy this gum, it tastes like rubber". I laughed at that all the way through dinner and even every time I thought about it over at the Knight's Inn motel that night. 1
AirwickWithCheese Posted August 28, 2017 Share #5 Posted August 28, 2017 When I read the part about you playing Dixie, I got out of my bubble bath, stood at attention, and sang along.

jsharr ★ Posted August 28, 2017 Share #7 Posted August 28, 2017 I would have liked it more if you played Deep in the Heart of Texas and Bob Wills showed up. Great story. Love them all standing for Dixie.
