Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted August 31, 2017 Share #1 Posted August 31, 2017 Yesterday I gave blood to the Red Cross. Blood drive where I work collected about 33 units. The phlebotomist made me nervous because it didn't seem like he knew what he was doing. He had to draw lines on either side of a prominent arm vein and ask the boss about needle insertion. Most are fantastic at the insertion but I've had a few bad sticks. It seems the prep is longer than the actual draw which is two vials for me. Sorry for not clarifying but the Red Cross won't accept blood that they did not draw directly from the donor. It seems like the needle sticking process is continually evolving. I've had them draw the lines on either side. The last time I think they drew a couple top & bottom.
