Popular Post groupw Posted August 31, 2017 Popular Post Share #1 Posted August 31, 2017 I have been wanting to upgrade my road bike for a little while. My OCR1 is a nice bike, but the compact geometry is a little upright when riding into the wind or a sprint. Tuesday night as we were riding the trails, one of my buddies said he was at S-1 or more status. He wants a new bike, but his wife said 2 had to go. His price was right, but I told him I didn't have the funds. He said he didn't need the money right away his wife just had to know he sold the bike! He brought it to the group ride last night. It was a great ride! We worked out a payment plan and it came home with me. 12
Popular Post jsharr ★ Posted August 31, 2017 Popular Post Share #2 Posted August 31, 2017 Sweet ride, but your drapes do not match your carpet. Also, I have to dock you 7337 potato points for the NDS pic and the complete lack of anything resembling a garage door. If you need to, we can arrange a potato point payment plan as well. My wife just needs to know that I have some points coming in. 3 1

ChrisL Posted August 31, 2017 Share #4 Posted August 31, 2017 Very nice! I've seen the Stradalli website but have never seen one on the road.
Johnny Come Lately Name Posted August 31, 2017 Share #5 Posted August 31, 2017 Oh for chrissakes! Take it back and see if he can sell you one you don’t have to take non-drive side pictures of!

When I got home, my stalker neighbor was outside. I didn't need to give him any of my time last night!

He is the director of a wildlife trust. He specialized in turning around floundering non-profits. He fell in love with the trust. Even though it is doing quite well now, he wants to retire there. He really believes in the research they are doing. His job is to get VIP investors to keep the trust healthy. He has definitely done so! Jane Goodall is an annual visitor, Sam Watterson has narrated 2 videos on the trust, there are others he is not allowed to name. But when he is with us, he is one of the guys. I think he enjoys that! He knows I can, and have, dropped him without effort. But I have also worked with him so he is now the fastest rider in his upper-crust group in his hometown! We just have a great time hanging out when he is in the neighborhood. Of course, last night, at the end of the group ride he said, "Crap! I just made you faster! What was I thinking?!?!"

ChrisL Posted September 1, 2017 Share #11 Posted September 1, 2017 Nice! What's the story on the wheels? All carbon or carbon & Aluminum? The rear looks all carbon, front maybe both?

We had severe wind gusts Sunday night. Took down several branches and a tree in the back yard. I haven't touched any of it this week with busy work week and WoW in AZ until tomorrow. This was the cleanest part!

I noticed little wiggles in crosswinds, but nothing terrible.
dinneR ★ Posted September 1, 2017 Share #14 Posted September 1, 2017 Those tires are way too skinny. Can you squeeze a 29x2 in there? or at least a 700x40? I'm worried you might tip over. 1

Wait until you're going downhill at 40 mph and get slammed with a crosswind. You'll need new shorts.

Still very cool! 38 mm is hardly considered deep section these days. I've been building a lot of sets with 38/50, 50/50 and 50/60.

He wanted to be sure the bike would be ridden and cared for. He said he could have sold it to a wealthy buddy for $750 more, but he would never ride it.

Yes, you have to do the speed test! 1
groupw Posted September 3, 2017 Author Share #28 Posted September 3, 2017 First test today. Conditions - 86 F, 65% humidity, North wind at 8 mph. Rider - 55 year old male, 176 lbs, had cut and hauled 5 pickup loads of branches before I rode. Bike 1 - 2007 Giant OCR1. 105 group. Upgraded to Mavic Axium wheels and Ultegra rear derailleur, 20,000 miles on the bike. Specialized 700x26 tires. Bike 2 - 2015 Stradalli Salerno. Ultegra 11 Spd group. Gatorskins tires. About 3,000 miles on bike. 2 rides for 44 miles for me before today. Rode both rides with my Garmin on my wrist so I wouldn't peek I only used perceived effort to try to keep things equal Ride 1 https://www.strava.com/activities/1165232751/shareable_images/map_based?hl=en-US&v=1504396263 Ride 2 https://www.strava.com/activities/1165232770/shareable_images/map_based?hl=en-US&v=1504393980 Even though the new bike was the 2nd ride, that ride was 30 seconds quicker. I'm still tweaking the fit on the Stradalli and this was only my 3rd ride on it. I think a couple more tests may be in order... 3
