Scrapr ★ Posted September 4, 2017 Share #5 Posted September 4, 2017 Half and half. Parents and myself. Bitd when you could pay for college with a summer job paying $1.10 per hour Lol. I just did the math on that. Math says 90-100 hrs a week. That is pretty close
Ralphie ★ Posted September 4, 2017 Share #6 Posted September 4, 2017 Some scholarships and grants and loans. I paid the loans off as slowly as possible because the interest rate was nearly nil. Picked an affordable college.

JerrySTL ★ Posted September 4, 2017 Share #8 Posted September 4, 2017 Mostly you taxpayers. I earned two associates, one BS, and duel MA degrees while in the US Air Force. Most was 75% tuition assistance meaning that I only paid 25% out of pocket. I also used a little of my GI Bill to pay for an automotive mechanics course. Thanks. 1
maddmaxx ★ Posted September 4, 2017 Share #9 Posted September 4, 2017 My parents paid for the first year, the one I screw the pooch on. When I went back, I did. The Navy helped.
Wilbur ★ Posted September 4, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted September 4, 2017 Wally Sarasan meant to pay for mine. He gave 30k in trust after I rode a bike into the side of his car. At 18, the money was mine and it went into a sailboat I lived aboard while going to school. Dad paid for my first dismal year of partying and I had to pay the rest cooking in restaurants. 1
shotgun Posted September 4, 2017 Share #11 Posted September 4, 2017 My dad did. His dad put him through college, so he did the same for us. He started a second business before my oldest sister started college. My brother milked him for 5 years at Michigan State. I gave him a break and went to a two year technical school. Zephyr Posted September 4, 2017 Share #12 Posted September 4, 2017 I paid my own way, but went to Uni in my home town so got to stay at home. Graduated without owing a cent. Worked summers for an Air Conditioning company, basically carrying tools and tanks of Freon to rooftops.

BR46 Posted September 4, 2017 Share #20 Posted September 4, 2017 No college here. Around here it's not uncommon to get out of high school and go straight to working in a factory maybe tec school.
Parsnip Totin Jack ★ Posted September 4, 2017 Share #21 Posted September 4, 2017 Several sources. Tuition assistance thru work paid some, I paid some and student loans paid the rest. When I graduated I had $17,000 in student loans. My Dad paid that off as a graduation gift. 1

You’re more of an English major than the guy I used to work with who labeled 9 out of 11 tools on a toolboard, incorrectly...

ChrisL Posted September 5, 2017 Share #26 Posted September 5, 2017 Army College Fund (The plan after the Vietnam era and before the current GI Bill) and I worked full time graveyards. As I was a bit of a slacker in HS I had to take a fair number of remedial math & English classes which required extra courses so I took 15 - 18 units plus summer & winter courses to finish in 4 years. I had a family to feed so didnt have time to mess around....
